Cross-Center 2025 Fiscal Webinar: Beyond the Budget: Collaborative Strategies for Using Fiscal Data to Strengthen Part C Programs

In this webinar, participants learned how strong partnerships between Part C program and fiscal staff can improve services and compliance.

Staff from CIFR and the Center for Early Childhood Data Systems (DaSy):

  • Provided a quick overview of the importance of analyzing fiscal data as a team

CIFR 2025 Fiscal Webinar: Strategies for Maximizing IDEA Part B State Set-Aside Funds

In this session, TA providers and state participants explored budgeting and managing Part B state set-aside funds and reflected on relevant challenges using CIFR’s Problems of Practice Framework—a structured approach to fiscal problem-solving that helps identify effective solutions.

The webinar provided practical tools and useful tips to strengthen states’ decision-making and impact of state set-aside funds.

CIFR 2025 Fiscal Webinar: What’s in Your Compliance Wallet? Navigating Internal Controls

This webinar was designed especially for state staff working with IDEA Part C program budgets and finances and showed participants how key standards for internal controls align with and support their Part C fiscal responsibilities.

The webinar helped participants:

  • Better understand your financial responsibilities
  • Follow funding requirements correctly
  • Strengthen your program’s financial practices

This webinar was based on our popular 2025 IDEA Fiscal Forum session on internal controls.

IDEA Fiscal Problems of Practice Workshop

The Center for IDEA Fiscal Reporting invited states to  a collaborative learning experience in Washington, DC, on August 26-27, 2025. This workshop brought together state teams to solve IDEA fiscal challenges together. Working alongside technical assistance experts and colleagues from other states, participants learned one another and build skills for handling complex IDEA fiscal issues.

In this workshop, particpants:

  • Learned a framework for tackling problems
  • Worked together on challenges specific to your state
  • Practiced responding to local educational agency questions and building their capacity
  • Reviewed helpful resources from CIFR and other TA centers
  • Networked with colleagues from other states and TA staff

CIFR 2025 Fiscal Webinar: Reviewing IDEA Part B LEA Subgrant Applications

LEAs must apply each year to SEAs to show their eligibility for IDEA Part B subgrants. This session covered how SEAs can:

  • Make sure LEAs meet all requirements
  • Provide helpful support to LEAs

Participants heard how states manage their application process and were invited to share your own experiences.

Workshop on Writing IDEA Part B Fiscal Procedures

CIFR, in collaboration with the National Center for Systemic Improvement (NCSI) Fiscal Support Team (FST), invited states to send Part B state teams to an in-person workshop to develop written fiscal procedures for one of two focus areas:

  • Comprehensive coordinated early intervening services (CCEIS)
  • Private school proportionate share

The workshop was held in Washington, DC, on March 11—12, 2025.

TA providers from CIFR and NCSI FST guided state teams in creating written state-level procedures. The workshop featured relevant resources, collaborative sessions for team planning, options for sharing and feedback among states, and opportunities for networking. Participants left with a comprehensive draft that aligns with IDEA and addresses their state’s unique systems and priorities, along with a plan to finalize, approve, disseminate, and update the procedures.
