Communities of Practice

CIFR invites state staff with shared interests in IDEA fiscal issues to join Part B and Part C Communities of Practice (CoPs) facilitated by CIFR TA liaisons. The online meetings are specially designed to meet the learning and networking needs of state staff to help them improve the quality of their state IDEA fiscal data. Through discussion and sharing of expertise, participants will expand their knowledge and solve problems of practice.

Part B

Part B New to IDEA Part B Fiscal Community of Practice: Are you new to IDEA Part B state fiscal work within the past 18 months? Join this community to boost your confidence, strengthen your understanding of IDEA fiscal requirements, and connect with peers who are learning alongside you. Together, we’ll explore practical tools and provide information on fiscal topics such as maintenance of state financial support, IDEA allocations, maintenance of effort, and more. Join us to learn, collaborate, and build your confidence as you grow in your IDEA fiscal role!

Registration closes on March 31.

IDEA Fiscal Timelines: Join us for an engaging, in-depth look at CIFR’s IDEA Part B Fiscal Timeline, your go-to guide for navigating a full year of federally required and recommended fiscal activities. Each month, we’ll highlight timely IDEA fiscal tasks—explaining what’s required, why it matters, and how to stay ahead of the curve.

Each meeting will also include facilitated discussions on how to use data from your upcoming fiscal tasks to help improve your processes, make decisions, and provide support to LEAs. These conversations will allow you to share successes, troubleshoot challenges, and exchange practical strategies with peers who share similar roles and responsibilities.

Problems of Practice: Whether you’re new to IDEA fiscal work or a seasoned professional, join this Community of Practice to share insights, exchange solutions, and strengthen your ability to tackle common fiscal challenges. Each month, we’ll explore timely, relevant topics and real-world issues that states face in meeting IDEA fiscal requirements, using CIFR’s Problems of Practice Framework as our guide.

Participants are encouraged to submit questions or bring challenges from their own work, fostering a collaborative space where everyone contributes to solving problems of practice. We’ll examine both participant-submitted cases and emerging trends, providing practical tools and strategies you can apply directly in your state.

Part C

New to IDEA Part C Fiscal Community of Practice: Join CIFR’s New to IDEA Part C Fiscal Community of Practice! This CoP is dedicated to state staff with less than 2 years in their roles to build a strong foundation in IDEA Part C fiscal requirements through a supportive, discussion-based CoP. We’ll explore core fiscal requirements and share practical tools to help you navigate your fiscal responsibilities with confidence, while connecting with peers who are also new to this work and building a strong support network along the way.

Registration is now closed.

IDEA Part C Fiscal Communities of Practice: CIFR is excited to continue the IDEA Part C Fiscal CoPs. These are welcoming spaces for IDEA Part C coordinators, fiscal staff, and data staff to connect with peers, share real-world challenges, and learn from one another in a supportive environment. Each session provides time to talk through questions and explore practical strategies that can make fiscal work feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more collaborative. Whether you’re looking for guidance, ideas, or simply a place to connect with others who “get it,” we’d love to have you join us.
